Metabolomic Resources

Handy Online List of Metabolomics Resources

Head on over to http://www.bmrb.wisc.edu/metabolomics/external_metab_links.html to.

Other good sites include the metabolomics society webpage (http://www.metabolomicssociety.org/ – see resources tab) and their twitter feed which often breaks new stories.

The Metabolomics Innovation Center in Canada (http://www.metabolomicscentre.ca/) is also a good spot to visit.

New Online Training Course in Metabolomics Dr Reza Salek and colleagues at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Hinxton in the UK have put a great metabolomics course online so if you are keen to get into this area or need to teach your students the basics then this could come in really handy. You can try it out at http://bit.ly/1mLmv93 – they even give you a little quiz at the end to heck your learning. The EBI also have a lot of other online courses to do with a range of subjects in the omics area mostly related to genomics, proteins and enzymes, data processing and a host of EBI online resources for data processing. You can see a list of these at http://www.ebi.ac.uk/training/online/course-list.

Mass Spectrometry-Based Metabolomics: A Practical Guide edited by Sastia Prama Putri and Eiichiro Fukusaki. The book claims to be a simple, step-by-step reference for profiling metabolites in a target organism and it discusses optimization of sample preparation for urine, serum, blood, tissue, food, and plant and animal cell samples. I have not had a chance to have a look at it yet but you can read more at http://www.amazon.com/Mass-Spectrometry-Based-Metabolomics-Practical-Guide/dp/1482223767%3FSubscriptionId=AKIAIZNXWLCASGL2YCCQ&tag=newbiologybooks-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=1482223767.
